Head coach David Gemmell shares his match day thoughts

A warm welcome to Laigh Bent for this weekend’s Tennent's National 1 match between Hamilton and Jed-forest.

Taking inspiration from last Saturday’s confidence building away victory at Dundee, the squad are focussed on producing an 80 minute home performance against a team who are fancied to be challenging for the title this season.

Jed will form a stern test for us, with an abrasive, no nonsense pack producing ball for a sharp back line to test Bulls defensive resolve.

We have to start better than in our latest 2 outings to ensure the game doesn’t run away from us. We’ve been working hard on our defensive organisation and whilst improvement in this area is evident, we need to combine it with line press & desire to make our shots behind the gain line.

Offensively we have proved we can score tries, aiming to maintain possession & pace throughout the game.

Taz McLaughlin, Grant McCowan and Greg Richardson pack down together for a second consecutive week, with Josh White re-joined by a returning Gareth Jones in the second row. Jack Bruce, Scott White and Robert Brown form a pacey back row. Scott Leggate, Ryan Butcher and Gregor Brodie will be ready from the bench.

After last Saturday’s try scoring heroics, Hugo crush is partnered at half back by Andy Wilson. Mark Wallace and Ross Jamieson continue in midfield with Neil Kennedy and Ben Plant again in the wings. Craig Inglis returns to the starting line-up at full back. Replacements Craig Skilling and Dom McRoberts will be keen for a run.

Also at home the Toos host Boroughmuir with a powerful looking team on show.

Unfortunately 1927 miss out again with Marr unable to field their 3s.

I’m really looking forward to this encounter, Bulls vs Jed is always an entertaining fixture!

Make sure your hair’s combed for the match, the camera's are there to capture Saturday’s
featured national 1 match.

Good luck to all Bulls teams this weekend!

See you at the game!
